Inclusive Synergy

It started with a push & a passion to scale impact…

With more than 10 years of experience leading diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, I have devoted my career to creating inclusive communities for students, staff and faculty to feel welcomed, respected, and supported to achieve their full potential within higher education and the workforce.

As an Equity and Inclusion Entrepreneur, one of my key strengths is finding synergy between administrators and students to achieve mutual goals. To this end, I stand on my track record for successfully leading large scale DEI initiatives in various environments. In addition to higher education environments, I have advanced DEI at the grassroots, nonprofit level and within the federal government.

Drawing on my experience with pipeline programming and evaluation, I am grant savvy and skilled with evaluating the effectiveness of programming and training efforts. My experience creating roadmaps for action for both the National Science Foundation and Arizona State University, along with my leadership within a nonprofit Oakland-based program are examples of my proven collaboration skills as a thought leader within the DEI ecosystem. Collectively, these experiences have strengthened my ability to collaborate across industries and institutions, developed my competency in managing multiple projects while supervising large teams, and underscored the importance for vision coupled with implementation and assessment.

My experience developing training, workshops and faculty development initiatives that advance DEI have increased participant sense of belonging and added value to several Bay Area teams. As a graduate of a minority serving institution and former director of a college-prep program that exclusively serves underrepresented, low-income students, my network for recruiting diverse students and faculty is strong. I am confident in my ability to increase the applicant pools of qualified and diverse talent, and my ability to foster learning environments where individuals grow, excel and want to stay.

Finally, as a research scientist, I am solutions-oriented and data driven. My research training taught me to identify challenges, develop strategies to overcome and prevent these challenges from reoccurring, and to use evaluation metrics to determine if large-scale initiatives are effective. I am a proven national speaker have received commendations from university leadership, community partners, and students for my dedication to establishing and maintaining equitable and inclusive learning environments.
